Joseph Langtry
Captain Joseph Miller Langtry (b. May 1, 1805, Aldingbourne, Sussex – d. February 14, 1862, Southampton, Hampshire) Royal Navy captain who was born the same year as the Battle of Trafalgar. As a young adult he chose to serve as an officer in the Royal Navy. He left the academy as a young lieutenant on October 2, 1827, commanded many ships, and was promoted to the rank of captain by Captain Goldsmith of the HMS Wellesly on July 4, 1859.[1]
